All I Want for Xmas is a Peepshow!

All I Want for Xmas is a Peepshow!

It was supposed to be just another Xmas party until the Frito Pie showed up. Down at the Junker Designs studio in Los Angeles a nice pre-Xmas fashion party was in full swing. It was a joint effort between Junker Designs and peepshow Clothing. Guests were invited to food, drink, good times, live screen printing and custom cutting of clothing. Tod Waters of Junker and Jessica Nicole of Peepshow provided three killer models (Elle Audra, Erika Young and Saraontheinternet) for me to photograph throughout the day.    In between…

The 6th Street Bridge is Gone!

The 6th Street Bridge is Gone!

The 6th Street bridge in Los Angeles is an entertainment icon. You may not realize it, but you’ve seen it a million times in film and TV. On this particular day we were planning to shot on it and under it just as we’ve done so many times before. It was about 7:30am when we met at the warehouse in downtown LA. Jasper, the rep from MOMO met us to make sure everything was going well. The objective, to shoot promo photos for the then top secret limited edition Magnus Walker…

Late Summer Bikini and Fitness Shoot

Late Summer Bikini and Fitness Shoot

It’s late September and Jewell Marceau and I are shooting some bikini pix in a backyard that overlooks the San Fernando Valley. It’s a simple shoot, one Canon DSLR, an open faced softbox on one of my trusty Alienbees photo strobes and Jewell.    The hot tub technician was a bit surprised when he rounded the corner to the backyard and found us there. His day got a lot better real quick. For the past year, Jewell has been intensively training six days a week to compete in a fitness competition,…

Photo Story: Introducing MacArthur Park

Photo Story: Introducing MacArthur Park

While driving home from a shoot at the Hotel Figueroa in Downtown LA I noticed something unusual. MacArthur Park is not a place that people usually want to hang out at, not in the last few decades anyway. What you would typically expect to find at the park are used needles and dead bodies, not an art installation. Los Angeles can be a surprising city. An organization called Portraits of Hope along with the mayor are using an art installation to bring awareness back to the park and other long forgotten areas…

Junker Designs Halloween Shoot

Junker Designs Halloween Shoot

There are times when you can just make it up as you go. First, we’ll shoot the two models in hooded shrugs and the underwear, then we’ll pour fake blood out of this zombie head prop onto one of them. The great thing is, those in the moment ideas usually work. At least we tried it. It would have been disappointing to not get this shot.    The somewhat difficult part of the idea was figuring out the most efficient way to back light the liquid in a tight…

Punk Rock Isn’t Dead! Face to Face – Triple Crown of Shows

Punk Rock Isn’t Dead! Face to Face – Triple Crown of Shows

That’s right, punk rock isn’t dead! Face to Face returns to the Observatory for three sold out shows. This video was a marketing piece to tie in Face to Face with Lucky 13 Apparel and ASG Guitars. The band was in the middle of doing their Triple Crown of Shows at the Observatory in Orange County. Over a couple days Todd Huber and I shot Face to Face with very much the same style we used when shooting Agnostic Front a couple months prior, leading up to the release of…

Gritty in the City with Lucky 13

Gritty in the City with Lucky 13

Shot on a rare rainy day in Alhambra. We needed to quickly capture a day in the life of a custom car builder. To create a sense of being immersed in the lifestyle, we pulled back the color so that it feels as though you are remembering being there rather than watching it happen in real time. This is just one of the many branded content pieces we shot last year for Lucky 13 Apparel.   Get Some! www.Lucky13.com

Deadly Fashion with a She Demon!

Deadly Fashion with a She Demon!

I’ve spent a lot of time at the Junker Designs studio lately. On this particular day we had Alicia Vigil, bass player of the She Demons on model duty. We knocked out a few quick outfit changes and got some great shots. Just keeping it simple with one octabox. Photography doesn’t have to be complicated. Urban Outlaw and the 6th Street Bridge

Urban Outlaw and the 6th Street Bridge

It was a busy day at the warehouse as usual. Lots needed to get done. We started out rigging a set wall for a reality show that’s coming in to shoot for about 30 days. Next, we headed across the street to the Outlaw chop shop to re-hang lighting that we transferred from the work area to the paint area. With some time to kill after lunch I got tough on a Porsche transmission with solvent and a wire brush. The cleaning isn’t finished yet, but it’s looking good so…
