I was recently enlisted by friend and owner of Junker Designs, Tod Waters to shoot and edit a promo piece for Jane Goodall’s Roots&Shoots program. I already had some B-roll in the can from an artist profile piece that I’m making about Tod so all we had to do was shoot the stand up segment that morning. I’m not entirely sure what this program is all about, but it has something to do with an event in London and this piece will be featured at that event.

This is an exercise in content creation at speed. We wrote it as we shot it. I already knew which B-roll shots would work in the edit, all we had to do was create a simple story. There were a couple hiccups, but nothing we couldn’t get past. The piece was well received by the folks at Roots&Shoots, so all ended up well.

Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots is the Jane Goodall Institute’s (JGI) global youth-led community action program, comprised of thousands of young people inspired by Dr. Jane Goodall to make the world a better place. The program builds on the legacy and vision of Dr. Jane Goodall to place the power and resources for creating practical solutions to big challenges in the hands of the young people.
