Video: Junker Designs for Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots

I was recently enlisted by friend and owner of Junker Designs, Tod Waters to shoot and edit a promo piece for Jane Goodall’s Roots&Shoots program. I already had some B-roll in the can from an artist profile piece that I’m making about Tod so all we had to do was shoot the stand up segment that morning. I’m not entirely sure what this program is all about, but it has something to do with an event in London and this piece will be featured at that event.   This…

Photoshoot: Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017

Photoshoot: Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017

Yesterday, photography for the EY 2017 Entrepreneur Of The Year program continued with a long list of qualified finalists. We spent the day working with some very influential and innovative CEOs from companies in the Southern California area. Companies such as Stamps.com, Yamibuy, Omaze and Scopely will be participating in the program this year.   As you can see in the photo above, the photographic setup was a simple three point lighting plan. A key, fill and edge light did the work nicely on a gray seamless background. We…

Dirt hits the Shelves on June 1st!

Dirt hits the Shelves on June 1st!

Once again my photographic work will be featured in book form on the cover of “Dirt Don’t Slow You Down” by Magnus Walker, being published by Random House Books. The book is currently available for sale through . Synopsis:   Magnus Walker is one of life’s originals. Serial entrepreneur, fashion designer, TV presenter, motivational speaker and one of the world’s most prolific Porsche collectors, the dreadlocked, tattooed hoarder of individual creativity is a very modern incarnation of idiosyncratic success. Raised in the grim, urban decay of Thatcher’s Britain, Magnus…

Photo Story: She Used to Model

As a working photographer and content creator in Los Angeles, I often work with interesting people in a variety of situations. Sometimes I know their names, sometimes I don’t and there are scenarios in which the only time I will ever actually see that person is on the day of the shoot and then never again. It’s the nature of the business. You show up, get the job done and then go home. Hanging out and starting up a friendship isn’t part of the deal. Sounds strange I know, but…

A Grand Prix of Apparel Design

A Grand Prix of Apparel Design

With the Long Beach Grand Prix approaching quickly, I hauled it to Downtown LA yesterday to prepare artwork sent over to the Urban Outlaw warehouse from HotWheels. A new series of collector cars between HotWheels and Magnus will be unveiled at the grand prix and I needed to layout the T-shirt that will be given away at the event to promote the new collector cars. In all, a pretty simple layout job. One panel of four cars on the back of the shirt measuring 10.75″ X 13″ and a killer…

Photo Story: Shots Fired from a Digital Machine

A couple Fridays ago I headed downtown to do a quick photo shoot with Jessica Nicole of Peepshow Clothing and local LA fashion model Erin Kennedy (@theerinkennedy). It was a quick and easy setup, one white wall and one photo strobe with a softbox. After a series of homemade tacos and guacamole to fuel up, it was time for the shoot. Oh, and don’t forget cocktails mixed by @rocknrollbartenders. Jessica had prepared some new pieces including custom designed fringe dresses featuring the graphics of David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust) and Marilyn…

The 6th Street Bridge is Gone!

The 6th Street Bridge is Gone!

The 6th Street bridge in Los Angeles is an entertainment icon. You may not realize it, but you’ve seen it a million times in film and TV. On this particular day we were planning to shot on it and under it just as we’ve done so many times before. It was about 7:30am when we met at the warehouse in downtown LA. Jasper, the rep from MOMO met us to make sure everything was going well. The objective, to shoot promo photos for the then top secret limited edition Magnus Walker…

Junker Designs Halloween Shoot

Junker Designs Halloween Shoot

There are times when you can just make it up as you go. First, we’ll shoot the two models in hooded shrugs and the underwear, then we’ll pour fake blood out of this zombie head prop onto one of them. The great thing is, those in the moment ideas usually work. At least we tried it. It would have been disappointing to not get this shot.    The somewhat difficult part of the idea was figuring out the most efficient way to back light the liquid in a tight…

Deadly Fashion with a She Demon!

Deadly Fashion with a She Demon!

I’ve spent a lot of time at the Junker Designs studio lately. On this particular day we had Alicia Vigil, bass player of the She Demons on model duty. We knocked out a few quick outfit changes and got some great shots. Just keeping it simple with one octabox. Photography doesn’t have to be complicated.
